1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website or use an application. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which can also store data in your browser without using traditional cookie files.

2. Why we use them

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in and secure your session
  • Remember onboarding and invite flows (completing steps, carrying an invite through sign-up)
  • Operate core features of the Service (temporary client-side state for uploads or navigation)
  • Remember your selected plan when you choose a paid subscription through our sign-up flow
  • Process subscriptions or checkout when you choose a paid plan (our payment partner's cookies may apply on their checkout pages)

3. Types of cookies and storage we use

Strictly necessary (first-party)

These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality including sign-in and navigation.

Authentication (third-party via Clerk)

We use Clerk for all sign-in, sign-up, and account management. Clerk sets cookies and uses browser storage on Clerk's domains and on app.kidera.co as needed for session management, fraud prevention, and security.

Clerk cookies include session tokens, device fingerprinting for security, and authentication state. These are strictly necessary for the Service to work.

For full details on Clerk's cookie and data practices, see:

Session storage (similar technologies)

We use sessionStorage (and similar browser storage mechanisms) for short-lived client state that helps the app behave correctly as you move between screens.

4. Third-party services

Depending on how you use the Service, the following providers may use their own cookies or storage technologies on their sites or within embedded flows. We do not control third-party cookies. Please read their policies for full details.

Clerk (authentication)

Clerk manages all sign-in, sign-up, Google OAuth, and session management for Kidera. When you authenticate, Clerk sets cookies necessary for your session.

Supabase (database and backend)

Supabase provides our database and backend infrastructure. Session tokens and authentication state related to Supabase may be stored in your browser as required by our implementation.

Lemon Squeezy (payments)

When you click a paid plan button and proceed through checkout, you are redirected to Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout pages. On those pages, Lemon Squeezy's own cookies and privacy practices apply. We do not control cookies set on Lemon Squeezy's checkout domain.

Cloudflare (infrastructure and media delivery)

Our photos and videos are served through Cloudflare's network at media.kidera.co. Cloudflare may set cookies related to security and performance on requests to our media domain.

Vercel (application hosting)

Kidera is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel may collect technical data including IP addresses and usage logs for hosting and security purposes.

5. What we do not use cookies for

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

  • No advertising cookies — We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or any cookies for advertising purposes
  • No cross-site tracking — We do not track your activity across other websites
  • No data selling — We do not sell cookie data or browsing data to any third party
  • No analytics fingerprinting — We do not use invasive analytics tools that build profiles of your behavior

6. Your choices

Browser settings

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Please note: If you block or delete strictly necessary cookies or authentication cookies, parts of the Service — especially sign-in — will not function correctly.

Signing out

Signing out of your Kidera account will clear your active session cookies. You can sign out from the Profile tab in the app.

Account deletion

Deleting your Kidera account will remove all data associated with your account from our systems. Account deletion can be done from Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account.

7. EU and UK users

Kidera's strictly necessary cookies — including authentication cookies set by Clerk and our own session management cookies — are required for the Service to operate and do not require separate consent under EU/UK ePrivacy rules.

We do not currently set non-essential cookies (such as analytics or advertising cookies) that would require a consent banner. If we add any non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and present a consent mechanism where required by applicable law before setting those cookies.

If you are an EU or UK user and have questions about our data processing practices, please also review our Privacy Policy and contact us at help@kidera.co.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time as our Service evolves. When we make changes we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
  • Post the updated policy at kidera.co/cookies
  • Notify you by email if the changes are material

Your continued use of Kidera after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact
